Washer and Dryer Repair in Rancho Bernardo
Two dryer complaints account for most laundry calls in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego: clothes that need two or three cycles, and a dryer that tumbles but stays cold. The first is very often the vent rather than the dryer, whether that is a long or crushed duct, a run packed with lint, or an outside hood that no longer opens, and repairing the machine without clearing the vent only moves the problem. The second divides by fuel: an element or thermal fuse on an electric dryer, an igniter or gas valve coil on a gas one. Washers fail in different ways, and the order we test them in is set out below. Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, LG, Samsung, Electrolux and the other common makes are all part of the work.
What this covers in Rancho Bernardo
Front-load and top-load washers, gas and electric dryers, stacked pairs in a closet and side-by-side sets in the garage: machines that will not drain, spin, fill or heat, that leak, or that have started to bang. Repaired in place in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego homes.
- Dryer needs several cycles: airflow measured at the outlet, then the duct, the lint path and the exterior hood
- Dryer runs but stays cold: element, thermal fuse and thermostats on electric; igniter and valve coils on gas
- Washer will not drain or spin: pump filter, drain hose and pump, then the lid or door lock the spin depends on
- Washer leaking: the front-load door boot, the dispenser and fill hoses, or a tub seal, found before anything is replaced
- Banging, walking or a new rumble: suspension, shock absorbers, drum bearings and rollers
A blown thermal fuse is a message rather than the fault. It opens because the dryer overheated, and a dryer overheats because it cannot push its air out. So when the fuse has gone we check the airflow before the panel goes back on, and if the vent is restricted we say so and show you where. Where the laundry sits in a garage or an interior closet, the duct can run a long way with several turns before it reaches an outside wall, and lint settles at every one of them. Clearing that run is often the most useful thing that happens on the visit.
Washers give more warning than most people notice. A front-loader that smells, or holds water in the folds of its door boot, is saying the boot and the drain path need attention long before it leaks onto the floor. A machine that stops with water still in the drum usually has something caught in the pump filter, a sock, a coin or a hair tie, and that is a short job if the pump has not spent weeks straining against it. Spin faults are often a door or lid lock the control cannot confirm, rather than a motor.
San Diego water is hard, and laundry machines show it at the inlet. The small screens where the hoses meet the back of the washer collect scale and grit, the fill slows, and some machines throw a fill error or simply take much longer to start. Those screens and the hoses are checked on every washer call, and if the hoses are old rubber and showing their age we will suggest replacing them, because a burst fill hose is the leak that does real damage. Stacked sets and side-by-side pairs are both worked on in place.
When you call, tell us the make, whether the dryer is gas or electric, what the machine is doing, and where it sits in the house. A gas dryer in a garage and an electric stack in a hallway closet are different visits, and knowing which one is waiting changes what goes on the van. The repair price, parts and labor together, is agreed with you once the fault has been found and before any work begins.
OEM parts, or an authorized supplier when the factory part is unavailable, and one price agreed before the work starts. Call (858) 630-4145 and tell us what the appliance is doing.

What Rancho Bernardo customers say
Our cubes had been shrinking for a couple of years, hollow and thin, and I was sure the ice maker was finished. He traced the line back instead and the saddle valve somebody tapped into the pipe when this Westwood house was newer had corroded nearly shut.
The wine column in our bar run out in The Crosby was reading right on the display, but corks had started pushing up on bottles nobody had touched. He measured at bottle level, several degrees warm, and the seal had gone slack along the hinge side.
Frost kept coming back on the freezer column in our 4S Ranch kitchen even after we defrosted it ourselves twice. Turned out the heater was open and the sensor was reading off. He ran a defrost cycle through in front of me so I could see it clear properly. No frost since.
